Saf-T-Pak Shipping Course Practice Test

Air shipments of lithium batteries are treated as hazardous goods, so they must follow the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations specific to lithium batteries. Those rules cover how the batteries are classified, packaged, labeled, and documented for transport by air. When the regulations require UN specification packaging, that packaging—tested and marked to UN standards—must be used to ensure the package can withstand air transport safely. In addition, shipments must carry the proper labels to communicate the hazard and handling instructions to all handlers and crew. This combination—IATA DGR compliance, UN specification packaging when required, and proper labeling—is what keeps air transport of lithium batteries safe and compliant. The other options ignore these essential protections: they imply no labeling, rely on inner packaging alone, or claim an exemption from UN packaging, all of which are not permitted for most air lithium battery shipments.
